Shadow
Shadow came into my life at the age of 5 months. I got him from a family who had advertised him in the local paper. Shadow was an abused, neurotic, and aggressive dog. I tried hard to turn him into a loving “child”. The years went on and all I showed him was how to fetch his toy. He was still neurotic and very aggressive to where I couldn’t even have my own grandchildren over for fear he would bite or attack them. I could not groom my own dog and no one else could do anything with him. The only way to keep him groomed was to spend $1100 to have him put under anesthesia. For 3 years I let him go to the point that he was so matted, he couldn’t go through the doggie door any longer. You could not see his ears or his feet. I thought about having shadow put to sleep or to just drop him off on an indian reservation. I was so embarrassed and ashamed and did not know what to do.
My sister found Mark German, America’s Canine Expert and he contacted me telling me that There’s Hope!
Mark spent 9 hours working, grooming, and teaching me how to provide The Four Essentials to a Stable Dog. He groomed the dog and then my husband and I started to help cut away mattes. It was amazing to see this dog just lie there and let us groom it. After grooming, I weighed the bag of hair and it weighed 17.5 pounds!
I will say, it wasn’t easy for me to change. The next day, I had a terrible time with Shadow. While trying to put a leash on him, he bit me. I was afraid of my dog. I cried and thought I was a failure. I was already giving up.
I called Mark and he suggested a couple more things. I implemented his technique and suggestions and the next day I took shadow for his first walk in 6 years! Now I walk him 2-3 times a day, and took him to the vet to have his shots, and he just loves going for rides in the car now.
I thank God that my sister found , Mark German and that I now have my life back and my dog has never been happier.

The days fly by and I wanted to share some things with you. We haven’t talked in a while and I miss that.
I know that you are working with many clients from the Verde Valley. You should be “one proud man” because all that comes back to me is praise and thanks for your work. Never a negative word has been said.
You have saved so many humans and dogs Mark. Some even come to see me in person to tell me of your work.
I even had an older gentleman and his pooch come in to see me telling me that “I” saved his and his dog’s life because I recommended him to you on an earlier visit. I assured him that I was merely a messenger due to the fact that I had witnessed your amazing work.
At some point, if you would like to, I would love to bring you back for another presentation. The people of the Verde Valley need YOU!

Dear Mark,
As far as we‘re concerned, you saved a life. You did a presentation for the members of the Verde Valley Humane Society back in November 06 that was absolutely amazing. We can‘t thank you enough for all you did.
Before the presentation, we spoke to you about a young dog that had been impounded at the shelter. We named him Charlie. Although he was very friendly, he refused to be placed on a leash or even wear a collar.
The idea of anyone taking him out of the kennel for a possible adoption was out of the question. You very kindly said that we could crate Charlie and bring him to the presentation.
Charlie‘s behavior caused him to be termed "unadoptable" which meant he stood no chance at getting a new home. His only hope for a good life was Mark German.
We brought Charlie ahead of time that night for you to observe his behavior. You explained to us that you would work with him a bit before the presentation and then work with him during the breaks.
We got busy preparing for the crowd and the start of the show and you went outside to where Charlie was crated in the back of a truck. About 20 minutes later before we began the show for the evening, we all went outside for a break. As we looked for you, there you were with Charlie at your side. Charlie was on a leash! You then began walking him and there he was right at your side. No pulling, crying or anything. Just following you wherever you went. It was amazing to see.
After you walked Charlie in the parking lot, you came up and educated and showed us how to control him. Our approach had been all wrong. Our method of coaxing and babying him continued to let him be the one in control. You taught us to be the "people" and to teach him to be the "dog".
You taught us The Four Essentials to a Stable Dog (c).
We can‘t thank you enough, Mark! The following Monday, Charlie was adopted!

I hope you are healing up after your encounter with Max. Let me say how sorry I am about
It. I feel it was my fault because I did not handle the situation like I was supposed too.
But, let me also say, we have a different dog because of what you did! I know we still have
a lot work on, but Randy and I have seen a big change in Max. He is always looking to us
for approval, to see if he is doing okay.
I started the walk, rest, feed routine that night, and it has worked like a miracle, just like you
said. Both Max and Annie eat when I put their food down morning and evening. The routine
is also getting me out of the house walking which is something I obviously need. Each time
I go a little further so this is a positive benefit for all of us.
Annie seems a little confused some times. She is still shying away from the new situation, so I‘m
not sure if we are doing something wrong, or she just doesn‘t get it yet.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate what you did and what you
showed us. You are truly a blessing. I will keep in touch.
